        Camera Shots

  • wide/long shot- typically shows the entire object or human figure and is usually intended to place it in some relation to its surroundings.

  • Establishing shots- An establishing shot in filmmaking and television production sets up, or establishes the context for a scene by showing the relationship between its important figures and objects.

  • Full shot – Full shot is another name for wide shot or long shot.

  • Medium Shot – In film, a medium shot, mid shot, or waist shot is a camera angle shot from a medium distance.

  • Close Up – A type of shot that tightly frames a person or object.

  • Extreme Close Up – Extreme Close Up gets right in and shows extreme detail.

       Camera Angles

  • Eyelevel Angle – A Eyelevel Angle is the one in which the camera is placed at the subject’s height so if the actor is looking at the lens, he wouldn’t have to look up or down.

  • low angle – A photograph or film sequence taken from below the subject.

  • high angle – A high-angle shot is a cinematic technique where the camera looks down on the subject from a high angle.

  • duch tilt – The Dutch Angle, also known as Dutch Tilt, canted angle, or oblique angle, is a type of camera shot where the camera is set at an angle on its roll axis so that the shot is composed with vertical lines at an angle to the side of the frame.

  • point of view (POV) – A point of view shot is a short film scene that shows what a character is looking at.

Camera Movements

  • Pan – In cinematography and photography panning means swivelling a still or video camera horizontally from a fixed position.

  • Tilt – Tilting is a cinematographic technique in which the camera stays in a fixed position but rotates up/down in a vertical plane.

  • Dolly – A Dolly is a cart which travels along tracks. The camera is mounted on the dolly and records the shot as it moves.

  • Track – A tracking shot is any shot where the camera follows backward, forward or moves alongside the subject being recorded.

  • Pedestal – A pedestal shot means moving the camera vertically with respect to the subject.

  • Zoom – Zooming in filmmaking and television production refers to the technique of changing the focal length of a zoom lens during a shot.
